Interesting commentary heard tonight which went something like this,
A young soldier went up to a senior officer and made a statement. He said "sir, it isn't fair that all the freedoms they say we fight for we do not get to enjoy, the freedom to do what I please in my off time, the freedom to go home after the work day is done, the freedom to see the birth of my child instead of being on deployment."
The officer thought about it for a moment and simply said "You're right, it isn't fair, but once you come to terms with that it just might be ok"
I came away with two points out of this thought. All soldiers give up these freedoms, and yet most of them come to terms with that decision, and many reenlist. Second, I think I am becoming for ok with the future, whatever that future is.
