In which Kim plays Subarashiki Kono Sekai... part 1
For those of you unaware, I am slightly obsessed with a game by the title of The World Ends With You. If you have not played this game, you should go out and get it right now because it is pretty much the best DS game ever. Also don't read this because SPOILERS.
There is a limited edition promotional DS that Nintendo released in Japan only which is a piece of merchandise for this game. Being the slightly obsessed person I am, I purchased one on my last trip to Japan. It came with a Japanese version of the game, すばらしきこのせかい ("Subarashiki Kono Sekai") It's a Wonderful World.
In order to practice Japanese and because I finally have the time/motivation/procrastination, I have started playing through it. Because I thought it would be amusing and since it's nice to have a reference and because I want to note discrepancies or important things I thought the English version lacks, I decided to stream-of-thought as I am watching at... whichever of my friends happens to be available and a willing victim that day.
Thus I bring you (with only slight edits) the log of Part 1 of my adventures.

Notes on Part 1:
- Neku and Kariya use "ore". Shiki uses "watashi". Uzuki unknown.
- Shiki starts off referring to Neku as Neku-kun but drops the honorific when he tells her to.
- Kariya has a speech oddity, it's random-ass katakana, usually as the last characters in his sentence. Uzuki unknown (but she speaks girly, that much I can tell).
- Pins are badges. Psychs are still psychs. Scan is scan. Noise is Noise. Reapers are shinigami. Players are Players or "participants". Pact is "contract" (the same word they use in Madoka).
- Uzuki sounds just like her English counterpart. Shiki and Neku's voices are both lower.
- Canon: the timer goes on the right hand.
- The mission mails are so much more awesome in Japanese.
- I think Neku might be even denser in Japanese. Though that might just be me.

There is a limited edition promotional DS that Nintendo released in Japan only which is a piece of merchandise for this game. Being the slightly obsessed person I am, I purchased one on my last trip to Japan. It came with a Japanese version of the game, すばらしきこのせかい ("Subarashiki Kono Sekai") It's a Wonderful World.
In order to practice Japanese and because I finally have the time/motivation/procrastination, I have started playing through it. Because I thought it would be amusing and since it's nice to have a reference and because I want to note discrepancies or important things I thought the English version lacks, I decided to stream-of-thought as I am watching at... whichever of my friends happens to be available and a willing victim that day.

Notes on Part 1:
- Neku and Kariya use "ore". Shiki uses "watashi". Uzuki unknown.
- Shiki starts off referring to Neku as Neku-kun but drops the honorific when he tells her to.
- Kariya has a speech oddity, it's random-ass katakana, usually as the last characters in his sentence. Uzuki unknown (but she speaks girly, that much I can tell).
- Pins are badges. Psychs are still psychs. Scan is scan. Noise is Noise. Reapers are shinigami. Players are Players or "participants". Pact is "contract" (the same word they use in Madoka).
- Uzuki sounds just like her English counterpart. Shiki and Neku's voices are both lower.
- Canon: the timer goes on the right hand.
- The mission mails are so much more awesome in Japanese.
- I think Neku might be even denser in Japanese. Though that might just be me.
