Ah, winter. I'll be battling off and on sickness from now until mid-May, so I apologize in advance for any undeserved grumpiness anyone may or may not recieve from me until then. If I could put it together enough to get up at a decent hour and clean my room I'd probably be feeling a whole hell of a lot healthier, but for now thats on the "I'll do it tomorrow" list, tomorrow being an undetermined day in the future which could very possibly not exist. Christmas is quickly approaching, which feels a little wierd this year. This is the first year in a long time where I'm not leaving for tour the day afterward. It'll be nice to be home for New Year's Eve, but at the same time I'm starting to get antsy about being around this place for a little too long. None of my bands are in a position to tour right now and probably won't be for a few months, which on one hand is good for me financially since I'm broke and need to get my shit together as far as my car, school, and life in general, but on the other bums me out since nothing relieves stress and anxiety quite like getting in a shitty van and riding around the country for a few weeks. I got a couple new musical projects possibly popping up, so I might be heading back to the 6 or 7 night a week band practice schedule. Its stressful, but I know that I work better that way. Too much free time makes me idle and lazy, which is probably the one thing I hate being most. I rarely write in this thing anymore, largely because my life has fallen into a highly repetitive rut of me working, sitting on the computer downloading music or wasting time till 7 am, then sleeping till 4 or 5, wasting the whole evening on nothing, then going back to work. I've come to realize that the only way I appreciate free time and use it well is when I have very little of it.
Top 5 records of 2005
5-Annihilation Time- II
4-Teenage Fanclub- Man Made
3-John Davis- s/t
2-Eels-Blinking Lights and Other Revelations
1-Nada Surf- The Weight Is A Gift
There were a lot of new records I didn't buy yet, so they didn't make the list, though they may be as good or better than some things on this list. I think the only other record I got this year that was new was Lucero's "Nobody's Darlings", which was edged out of the list by Annihilation Time. The new Nada Surf has been ruling my CD player since it came it out and I highly reccomend anyone with any appreciate for power-pop to buy it, and its predecessor, the brilliant (and slightly better) "Let Go".
