VanCon: Russ Hamilton
We didn't really know who Russ Hamilton was before getting the con schedule. Apparently he's the location manager for the show. We were going to skip his panel, but ria_oaks suggested that we see him because he's funny.
"Funny" is... one word I might use?
- Russ Hamilton is an odd, odd duck. He swears like a sailor and I would not be surprised if he were on some sort of drugs for his panel. I had a hard time understanding most of what he said.
- Very first thing, he brought out a booze case in the shape of a coffin with "Movie God" across the front.
- Russ's best friend in the Supernatural cast/crew is Jim Michaels. His favorite episode is Monster Movie. The creepiest location he ever scouted was a paintball course that became part of Purgatory.
- Two girls (I couldn't tell if they were fans or crew) tormented Russ by singing Celine Dion at him. He took a bottle of tequila out of his case and started drinking.
- He started snarking at the people asking him questions. "You're going to ask a question after I've had a couple of shots? My God are you in for it!" He also added dialogue tags to the end of people's questions in the style of a porn novel. "…she asked full of lust and desire." "Her voice was like an eargasm in my ear." (Exact quotes. No kidding.)
- To shoot the period episodes, they use a time machine. The production team doesn't know about it.
- He ran a little over time, getting weirder as he went, to the point that angel-kink and I were glancing at each other nervously and wondering where Julie McNiven was.
- One awesome fan who was trying to ask a question: "Stop interrupting me! You're like my ex-husband!"
