Why did I wait so long to start doing fic and art exchanges on LJ? Working on my
yuletide and
spn_illuminated contributions has become my favorite thing to do when I should be doing schoolwork.
I'm not quite where I should be on my yuletide story, but I'm confident that I can finish it once I have more free time, after finals. I got assigned my OT3 in a fandom that I've never tried to write for before! It's all very exciting and kind of nerves-inducing. My only problem is that I have to focus on the requested characters and not get sidetracked by adding in scenes with all my favorite side characters.
My SPN Illuminated piece is turning out to be better than it has any right to be. All the doodling in the margins of my notebooks must be paying off, because the people I'm drawing actually kind of look like who they're supposed to look like! I've never drawn a finished piece with this many characters in such varied poses, so I'm going crazy with photo reference. My roommate borrowed my camera and was very confused about why there were a bunch of shots of my various body parts at awkward angles. Now the line-art is almost done, and I'm dreading having to draw the background. Maybe I'll cheat and just paste in a screenshot of the Roadhouse (no, my anal-retentiveness won't allow me to actually do that).
While I'm speaking of SPN Illuminated, art isn't due until the end of the year, so there's plenty of time for both artists and writers to get involved (especially if you are a writer who might be inclined to claim an art piece of pre-series Jo and Ellen). *pimppimppimp*
Introducing
spn_illuminated, a challenge community devoted to the production of art and fanfiction in tandem. Working like a mix between a reverse big bang and a comment prompting community,
spn_illuminated will have four cycles a year, three months a piece. Each cycle will begin with artists posting their prompt pieces, which will then be claimed by authors, who will have two months to write the companion fic.
We are gearing up for our first cycle and would be very excited to have you join in! Our rules and schedule are located on our
profile page and sign ups for the first cycle are located
here.
Please come by and check us out! And if you would like to spread the news, the code for our banner and ad can be found
here. Thank you all for your time and attention, and we hope to see you(and your fabulous art!) at the beginning of the year!
