point_earedpain requested a Warchild fic. Alas, Jos was being stubborn and this was all he would give me. I'm afraid it's not terribly good...I sorry.

Title: Care
Author: arora_kayd
Beta: Me, myself and I
Fandom: Warchild
Disclaimer: I only own a copy of the book. That's all. ;.;
Summary: This actually stems from a sentence I wrote for my claim over at 1sentence. But...yeah. It didn't turn out as I had hopped. I'm sorry, Woobie!!

Jos was miserable. He was also sick. Three days had passed, and this was the first time he had left his q, venturing to the inidrla-na onboard Turundrlar. The first day and a half he had felt nearly as bad as he had the first time he was sick on Aaian-na, thought nightmare free. The short excursion down the halls had left him drained, and he sat at the low table.

Resting his head on his arms, he stared at the patterns on the wall, letting his gaze go out of focus. He was vaguely aware of the door opening behind him, and was only mildly startled when a blanket was draped around his shoulders. He looked up as Niko set a cup of yenn before him and then sat to his right. Rearranging the blanket, Jos reached out for the cup, enjoying the warmth in his hands before taking a sip.

Niko had been practically fawning over Jos, spending every spare moment making sure his former pupil was comfortable. They didn’t speak much, Niko seemingly able to read Jos’ mind, and he was always there when Jos woke up, even if only for a moment.

“How are you feeling?” Niko’s quiet voice brought Jos from his musings.

“Better,” Jos rarely admitted to more than that without coaxing, hating, as always, to appear weak.

“That is good. But…” Niko prodded gently. Jos sighed.

“I’m still tired.” Niko nodded to himself, briefly entertaining a small smile. They feel back into comfortable silence, Jos continuing to drink is tea.

The warmth of the blanket and tea served to heighten Jos’ fatigue, and he once more laid his head down after placing his empty cup to the side. It wasn’t long before he had nodded off, completely unaware that he had even begun to. Niko’s smile appeared once more as he noted Jos’ state. Rising, he tucked the blanket more securely around Jos and picked up the empty cup. He gently placed his free hand on Jos’ head for a moment before leaving, determined to be back before Jos woke up.
