I arrived at the KC spirit fest around 8:45. I got there just in time for Quiet Riot! I’ll summarize their performance---horribly disturbing. Moving on, The Wallflowers took the stage a little after 10:30. Right away I started shouting at Rami. He looked very cute. Jakob was wearing that adorable little gray hat of his; I was very excited to see it on him. I don’t remember the song order, but I can tell you that it was great! I was right up in front singing along to all the songs. I kept trying to get Greg to smile, but he wouldn’t do it! Luckily, I got some smiles out of Rami and Jake. One funny part of the show was when security was told that pictures couldn’t be taken so security chased away press people. DDR came around in front of the stage to film and they started yelling at him and he was like, “I’m with the band!” and started yelling. It was really funny. After that Jakob was like, “take pictures…I don’t care”. Well into the performance, during Sleepwalker, I was taking a picture of Rami and I wasn’t singing along. Jake looked at me and started talking to me! He was singing the wrong words like speaking to me and was like, “just take one picture of me” and “keep singing”. I stuck my tongue out at him and shook my head. He gave me a puppy dogface and was like, “please, just one”. So I took his picture and then started to sing the words again and then he picked up and continued to song. Very fun. The show continued and it was great. I was amazed that they could rock so hard in the muggy and humid Kansas weather. At one point in the show Fred started off a different song and Jakob said something about that proved they play live and they just played “good live rock and roll”. GREAT SHOW! After the show ended the crowd cleared out pretty fast and I was left wondering how to get to the boys. There was a lot of festival security and one in particular was very pissy. When I walked over to the gate towards the backstage area he immediately told me to leave. A tech guy approached me and complimented my sing along performance during the show. I asked him if he could get me back there, he said “of course”. However, the stupid security jerk told me I couldn’t go back there. It was an ordeal…I called him a “meanie”. I bet that hurt! We walked around for what seemed like FOREVER trying to find another way in. At last, we came back to where the tech and security guys were. The jerk was gone and the tech guy was still there and quickly took us to the bus. When we got to the bus Rami was just getting off and there were very few people around. We talked and took pictures. I told him I was said there was no Tramp Contest in the Midwest. He was like, “I’m in drag for that”. I told him he was hot and that he liked it. I had him sign my Trampoline Records postcard. That made him very happy and he asking me to show it to people. He told me about Naydeen (sp?) which will be the first CD released on the label. He said he had it on the bus and I kept telling him to go get it and give it to me. I told him I’m sure he could find another copy. He wouldn’t give it to me!!! I told him to beward of Weezy at Chicago’s show. Hehe. He said she was a thief because she has his sunglasses. He said I should go to Chicago and I told him to give me a ride. He said he couldn’t. He kept grabbing his face and going, “I’m so sunburned” in this kind of gay voice. He asked me if I went outside during the day and I told him I was outside today because I tried to come into soundcheck but they were spoiled and had tech guys do it. He looked hurt and tried to convince me they weren’t spoiled. While I was talking to Rami, DDR and Yogi were picking their prey. Poor trashy girls. I talked to Yogi a little bit but he was definitely occupied with the ladies. I talked to DDR about the filming problem and he laughed and was like, “I love that sorta thing, that’s so rock and roll”. I really liked Fred. I asked him how he was enjoying the wallflowers and he said he was having lots of fun. I think he was happy that someone knew something about him and that it was only his second day on the job! Greg was a lot of fun! I teased him about never smiling and he thought I meant that he wasn’t having a good time and he was like, “No! I loved this show. I got off the stage and was like, ‘that was a great show’.” He was very funny and he has the cutest laugh! I told him that he thought he was to good for the mid-west and he protested saying that they try to come out more but the label’s support just isn’t what it used to be. I told him that maybe he should start wearing midriffs and they’d give him more attention. He said, “I should just play a tape and dance”. I thought it was a good idea. I gave Greg a hard time, but I was just having some fun. While Greg and I were joking around, Jake came off the bus. I was standing pretty close to the bus door and I looked at him and he smiled and came right over. He interrupted Greg and thanked me for singing along. I told him thanks for being a meanie and interrupting Greg. Greg was like, “she’s picking on us!” And Jake said I was a troublemaker. I kept talking to Greg and Jake and I look over and Rami standing in our circle. I was thinking, ‘holy crap, my boys are surrounding me!’ It was nice. I was tapping my camera against my hand when I was talking to the boys and Jake looked at me and was, “can I take a picture with you?” Heart be still! I pulled out a previous picture of him and I (where I have long hair and braces, all around not good) and told him we had to make it better then that. He looked at it and was like, “are you sure this is you?” I told him it was my 15th birthday in that picture and it was the greatest night of my life. He smiled and asked me how old I was now. I told him 16, almost 17. He acted disappointed and was like, “damn, that sucks” and “you can’t possibly be 16”. Then he looked at the picture in disbelief. Then he goes, “Wait! I’m almost smiling in that one!” and got all excited. He assured me he’d make a better picture this time. We took the picture and he was like, “I just know that was great”. I asked him to sign the first picture. He did and we talked a little bit more. Around this time all the other trashy girls were getting grumpy because I was hogging the three boys. I walked away so they could play with them. I went over to Rami and commented we had the same shoes. We took a picture and bumped heads. Ouch! I felt really cool then. I asked him if they were high-top or low-top. He got excited and was like, “they’re high-top…AND SUEDE!” I was jealous and petted his shoes. He was very proud of them. I told him about my maroon high-tops and he seemed jealous. I can’t remember all of the conversations I had with the boys, it’s just all a blur! Rami and I talked some more about me needing to go to Chicago and Naydeen. I walked back over to Jake to save him from my dad’s friend who was telling him about the family history and then the boys started getting onto the bus. I said my goodbyes. Rami was the last one on and as he walked towards the bus he turned around, blew a kiss, and said “bye baby”. It was the cutest thing ever! OK…so as you can see…it was a very good night. AND! I met Muppet (Kate) and Moonpie (Jenny). They were very nice girls and it was lovely meeting them. Horray for The Wallflowers!
