So much on my mind, but I'm too sleepy to get into all of that. But just this--something I finally finished in cr. writing. I like it, but still a work in progress. We were prompted to write about those little things that connect us to others. I focused on three specific people. Here's what I gots so far:
These ties, all various sizes
some bright, others warm
a fat braided indigo, a thread of daisy yellow
all ties to different you's
a boy with blue green eyes, sunflowers,
the first hand mine, shy, grasped
ties at nighttime
he sleeps with one hand tucked between his knees, like me, and curled on his side
we understand eachother-hands must be tucked away while dreaming
because it feels safe
ties in lots of little kids, a big porch in Tennessee, the house with no television, long sawgrass and bare feet
sleeping alike, we dream of a similar future
then a boy, one green one blue eye
our ties less mystical, I guess
ties in that knot left in his forehead when I threw the phone
when he scribbled black over my prized drawings and laughed
ties in the heaviness of screaming parents
and laughing, so hard, at times when friends wouldn't understand
another tie, two endless dark eyes, shiny
we fill ourselves with loud music
love the weightlessness of changing altitudes in the clouds
ties in his name I called first when I saw the circular rainbow
"Look!"
All ties to me
all various sizes
some bright, some warm
I am but a puppet to them
and smiling
because of these ties, their pulling
I
dance!
