BIOGRAPHY
Abigail Blythe Laurie was born to Daniel and Margaret Laurie on November 22, 1982 at 10:35pm in Washington, DC. While not a military brat like her mother and uncle, Abigail still did her share of traveling as a child due to her parents' rocky marriage. Not wanting her to be exposed to their fighting, she was often shipped off to stay with her grandparents and/or uncle during school holidays. Her parents finally divorced when she was seven and her father (a local cop) left her mother for another woman. But her visits to her relatives continued as her mother was too 'distraught' to deal with anything.

While she loves her mother, there is more than a little bit of tension between Abigail and Margaret. This stems mostly from the fact that Abigail sees her mother as meddling. After ignoring her for years, Margaret began poking into her daughter's life around Abigail's junior year of high school -- offering what she saw as helpful advice and constructive criticism. Apparently, she did not want her daughter to make the same mistakes she did.

Another part of the tension may come from the fact that Margaret feels her daughter prefers her brother's company to her own. She's not entirely wrong. While Margaret was dealing with her own issues, Abigail was spending more and more time with her Uncle. The result was a relationship that essentially replaced the one she would have had with her father (rat bastard that he is).

Making it through grade school and high school, Abigail attended Princeton for undergraduate with the idea of being premed. However, a semester in she changed her major to zoology. She graduated with a double major in Zoology and Anthropology (an interest her uncle passed down to her during her time with him). She debated returning home after graduation, but instead decided to head off to Australia to work with the wildlife.

For the past two years, she has been living in Sydney working at an animal conservation center. However, a surprise encounter has convinced her to come back to the states.

PERSONALITY
Abi is a bit of a free spirit, which can make her seem a bit flighty upon first meeting her. The truth is, she is actually quite bright and well versed in her fields -- they just happen to be fields that allow her to play with wild animals and dig in the dirt. Naturally friendly and talkative, Abi is always ready to meet new people. However, she very rarely lets those people get truly close to her -- a bit of trauma left over from her parent's relationship. The only people she lets close are those people she has known for years.

Relaxed and easy going, Abi has learned to go with the flow of things around her. However, she will start fighting if she feels that she is either being cornered or forced to do something she doesn't want to do or if she feels that someone she cares about is being forced to do something they don't want to do. But then...who wouldn't?

Relationship wise, Abi hasn't had many. She didn't really date in high school and only had one or two boyfriends during undergrad, neither of which are special enough to even remember their names. The most meaningful relationship she has ever had is the one she is in now.

Television programs that Abi enjoys include Dr. Who , Coupling , South Park , Reno 911 , Buffy , old SNLs and almost anything on Animal Planet. She is also a fan of reading (especially british lit and mystery novels) and of theatre and owns the soundtracks to most modern broadway plays. Her absolute favorite musical is Phantom of the Opera .
