Hmm, I can't believe the World Cup is finished. argh what in the world am i going to do with my life until club season
That final really was as boring as hell. I was supporting the Netherlands for Mark van Bommel's sake, but by the end I honestly didn't care anymore--I just wanted it to finish! Give me back the Uruguay-Germany game, please. That was much more exciting.
Still bitter it wasn't a Netherlands v Germany final, and a Paraguay v Uruguay playoff. I can't believe just thinking about the Spain game upsets me as much as it does, lol. in all honesty it would have been much better for my blood pressure if Paraguay had just rolled over, but the amount of effort they put into that game and how agonisingly close they got is heartbreaking. What saddens me most about it is how fast everyone just forgot about Paraguay, and how they are now just another meaningless stepping stone on the way to Spain's world cup victory. Paraguay gave 110% for the entire game, only days after playing 120 minutes against Japan. They tried so, so hard--but all everyone in the future is going to see is the "W" in the relevant column. As incredibly proud of them as I am, I honestly feel that they deserve far more than they got for the effort they put in. If they had a finisher like Forlan, it could have been so different--I still occasionally think about what would have happened if we still had Cabanas, but whatever. I'm just glad he is alive and well, and that his team made him proud.
On paper, they are a vastly inferior team. But they were such warriors, I am so, so proud of them.
tl;dr I am still butthurt about Paraguay losing. I should probably find something to do with my life lmao. I honestly don't dislike Spain at all, I love some of the people on their team to death so i'm happy for them. (esp Sergio, Jesus, Xabi and Pepe<3)
Overall, oh god this world cup. I enjoyed it so much, but the end was so anticlimatic. I can't wait until it goes to South America.

Speaking of workhorses, Barreto put all these "injured" stars completely to shame this world cup. He ran around like a mad thing despite having hardly played this season due to various injuries, props to him.
