Once again, I felt like making a tutorial, hopefully it'll be better received than the last. And a few icons. All Death Note. Also, can't really get around this one, but spoiler for Mello's name. =\
This is the screencap I took from episode 35 (I have a set of 10, if anyone's interested let me know, I'm happy to upload.), and I cropped out a portion of Takada's hand with the paper.
It's dark, duplicate the crop 4 times, and set them all to Screen 100%. This all depends on how dark your picture is, so use your own judgement.
Create a new layer and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+e. This is stamp visible, it simply puts what the layers so far have complied without flattening. Set this layer to Hard Light 100%. We are left with this:
It's already quite yellow, but for the next steps we need more Yellow. So create a new layer and fill it with #E6C261 and set that layer to Soft Light 50%, and we have this:
Now it's time for selective coloring. I'm sorry, this won't be translatable.
Reds:
C -> +100
M -> -44%
Y -> -100%
Yellows:
C -> +100%
M -> +40%
Y -> -66%
Neutrals:
C -> +59%
M -> -8%
Y -> -34%
And tada:
And selective coloring is not complete without curves (who uses curves anymore? Apparently they're not trendy anymore. Fuck that.):
Point 1: Input - 38 Output - 56 Point 2: Input - 212 Output - 206
Now add this texture by Tre:
Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation/Lightness
Change the hue to -170 and the Saturation to +9. Your blue will now be red. Set this texture to Multiply 100%. It'll look something like this:
Drag the texture underneath your curves and selective color layers:
Fill a new layer with #DED9CA and set it to Multiply.
Create a new layer and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+e, set this layer to Overlay 100%
Now add this texture by peoplelovemachines:
Set to Multiply 100%.
For the rounded edge, use these settings on your rounded rectangle tool:
And add select the area you would like rounded, right click > make selection. Selection > Select Inverse. Create a new layer and fill your selection. And there we have it, an icon.
Not exactly my favorite but I wanted something to do.
