Lost Review for 3.3: Locke Loves Long Walks Through the Jungle

Oct 18, 2006 22:28

Further Instructions aired today, it's the third episode of the the third season of Lost. I can honestly say that Lost is better than it was last season, but still not as great as it was in season one.

Tonight's episode seemed to be long, but nothing much seemed to happen. I think it is pretty clear that several scenes were cut for time, and that made the episode suffer in some places. For example, some beach scenes were cut, and a whole 'B' plot line was taken out! Uncool editors, uncool.

Anyway, here's my thoughts of the episode:

It's a Locke episode, and I don't like Locke. It was a Locke heavy episode, and by heavy I mean he was in all but  two freakin' scenes! That usually doesn't happen, even in flashback episodes, so it annoyed me. I've missed Desmond, Eko, Claire, Charlie, and Hurley...so, it sucked that they pretty much took a backseat, just so we could learn that Locke not only has daddy issues, but has trust issues as well.

Characters:

Locke - I'm sorry, but the guy freaks me out. He's just...freaky. And, he was in some kind of culty thing that grew drugs! WTF, Locke.  Here's Locke's deal: He always trusts the people he shouldn't and he totally dismisses the people he should trust. Why, Locke, why? Ah, I just want to shake him and his island-lovin' ways.

And seriously, his freaky airport dream...loved it. It was so...Lost. I guess Locke and the island are back on good terms, because Locke is having his freaky visions again.

Charlie - I love snarky Charlie. I loved his line about the polar bears. I love that he seriously cannot run: he runs like a chicken with its head cut off or something. Plus, I love his little thing with Hurley, those two are really BFFs.

Hurley -  Hurley finding Desmond was priceless, in just the way he looked at Desmond. Plus, now Hurley's got a OMGWTF?! thing going with Desmond seeing the future. Will Hurley tell anyone, confront Desmond, or just dismiss it? I'm looking forward to seeing where that storyline goes.

Desmond - So attractive, even when dirty. Wearing Hurley's shirt, he just looked adorable. And, he can (seemingly) see the future now. What?!

Claire - Aw, her whole 'B' storyline got cut. Why do they always cut out the Claire scenes? Still, she was sweet with baby Aaron and Charlie in the freaky airport dream.

Boone - Or rather Dead!Boone. Oh, it was brilliant to include him, especially when you consider that Boone and Locke had a simliar friendship as Locke had with Eddie. Plus, Ian S. got hot.

Eko - Yay, glad he's alive!

Two new Losties- They should have kept the scene(s) of Claire finding them sexin' it up in Jack's tent. 'Cause, I seriously wondered who the hell they are and why the hell they were so darn familiar with the 'in' group.

Couples:

Ben/Juliet/Jack/Kate/Sawyer -Thank goodness they weren't in tonight's episode, as I seriously need a break from that soap-ish drama.

Charlie/Claire - It looks (and sounds-Locke's line about Charlie going back to Claire) like these two have started up their friendship again. That's nice. Now, hopefully they'll get some scenes this season!

Promo:

Next week is a Sawyer flashback. And, he may just prove to be a bit of a coward. Aw, poor Sawyer. :(

Now...who will Kate chose? Who does she love: Jack or Sawyer. Sawyer or Jack? I don't know and I don't give a damn. Just wake me when this damn, boring, two year 'love triangle' is over.

review, lost
