Looking at 2015 and shows from the States, I don’t think I’ll be watching too many. At least at once.
Returning Shows:
Show: Game of Thrones
Air Date: Sometime in April 2015
Details: This season will use material from A Feast for Crowsand A Dance with Dragons, the fourth and fifth novels in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.
Why I Want To Watch: While I do think the novels are over long; and the television series can be triggering for some - I love the epic story. I may not like all the characters, but I cannot wait to see where they go and the changes they make with the plot.
Show: From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series
Air Date: No idea. Season one started in March of ’14, so I guess season two will start around the same time? Details: In this supernatural crime series, Seth Gecko and his unpredictable brother, Richard "Richie" Gecko, are wanted by the FBI and Texas Ranger Freddie Gonzalez after a bank robbery left several people, including policemen and Gonzalez's mentor Texas Ranger Earl McGraw, dead. Heading for the Mexico border pursued by Gonzalez, the Geckos encounter former minister Jacob Fuller and his family, whom they take hostage by commandeering the Fullers' RV. Drug lord Don Carlos reroutes them to a strip club populated by vampires that all must fight until dawn in order to survive. Why I Want To Watch: I watched season one in about two days. While the plot was stretched thin - they were adapting a film into ten episodes - it was the characters I enjoyed. I loved the different relationships: Seth and Richie, Seth and Katie, the Fuller family, Richie and Katie. It’s a series I feel you can almost marathon. Now that the film’s plot is wrapped up, I’m rather interested in where the plot will go.
Show: Gotham
Air Date: Returns from its mid-season break on January 5th.
Details: Explores the world of Gotham during Jim Gordon’s early days on the force. The show looks at the origins of Gotham’s greatest heroes and greatest villains.
Why I Want To Watch: The show took a while to find its feet and it still has a few problems. However, I like most of the characters and I always love an origin story.
Show: Community
Air Date: Returns via Yahoo sometime in 2015. Some sources are saying January 27th. Others say Spring.
Details: The daily goings-on of a study group at an unusual community college.
Why I Want to Watch: The show has had its fair share of missteps and even a season worth forgetting. But, I’ve been a fan since season one . . .I’d like to see it to the end. Plus, I’ve been to a community college, and this show isn’t too far off in some of its portray of what happens.
New Shows:
Show: The Liberians
Air Date: Started December 7th; currently aired six episodes. Will be a ten episode season, with episodes seven and eight airing on January 11th and episodes nine and ten airing on January 18th.
Details: Follows the events of the TNT made-for-television films. Follows four people who were chosen by Flynn Carsen to become a new team of Librarians in order to solve impossible mysteries, recover powerful artifacts, and fight against supernatural threats, especially the forces of the Serpent Brotherhood, led by the mysterious immortal Dulaque. Why I Want to Watch: It’s addictive, adorable, witty, and cheesy. Plus, the cast has lovely chemistry. Already have a ship or two. It’s a fun way to start a week.
Show: Agent Carter
Air Date: January 6st. premier. Two episode premier.
Details: In 1946, Peggy Carter must balance the routine office work she does for the Strategic Scientific Reserve while secretly assisting Howard Stark, who finds himself framed for supplying deadly weapons to the top bidder. Carter is assisted by Stark's butler, Edwin Jarvis, to find those responsible and dispose of the weapons.
Why I Want to Watch: It’s a limited run series about the “minor” characters in the Marvel film-verse, and it’s all about Shield being formed and things that may or may not have led to events in the films. Plus, love a period piece and love Peggy Carter.
Show: Galavant
Air Date: January 4th saw the first two episodes. There are eight episodes total, I believe. Two airing every Sunday for the next month.
Details: A musical comedy that follows the knight Galavant as he searches for a way to save a country (and his true love) from the hands of King Richard.
Why I Want to Watch: It’s a musical comedy with the songwriters behind Tangled! It’s all fairy-tale themed, but they don’t mind making fun of the old clichés that Disney has made famous. The evil King? Not so evil. Galavant’s pure true love? Yeah . . . kind of evil. Galavant? Out of shape, drinks too much, and really needs a lot of help in being the hero. Plus, lots of fun cameos.
There are some other new shows I’m interested in, but I don’t want to say too much until more details come out about them/they have air dates.
