- Dear Fandoms: On principal, don't show your fanfiction to actors/actresses. In general it makes them uncomfortable/freaked out/giggle

I'm assuming that the internet companies have machines to track what people do and where they go. Like those viruses that track what sites you use most often and then send you ads. Like a machine that randomly looks for sites and downloading files of certain types and sizes. I've seen a few different softwares that are supposed to block IPs from seeing what you do, and something tells me they'll either get a lot more business come July or be shut down by the government.
I have dled for Western/British shows. The British because they aren't available. The Western because of fanvids. Mostly, I'm about the Asian dramas. And I'm certainly not selling these things.
I honestly think there would be less privacy if things were more readily available. Not just things from overseas, but also things in America. Yes, people could use Apple or Amazon to watch that HBO or Showtime show, but $3 for one episode seems a bit much. And most of the time the new episodes aren't online for days or even a week. People have no patience. They'd rather get it an hour after it airs.
As for Hulu - I'm very disappointed with them. I wanted to check out some episodes of a certain show and - no episodes. They've gone to some new system where some shows don't have past seasons or will only have a handful of random episodes at a time. One show I wanted to watch aired on Thursday, and the new episode won't be there until Wednesday. I had to watch it on youtube.
My problem is that amount of spying/logging/monitoring to do this is sick. This is making the Great Firewall of China look nice
Agreed. I don't like the idea of someone watching where I go and what I do online. I don't like the idea of having to take an "education" class because I download a screencap for an icon. I don't like the idea of people possibly going to prison for years because they couldn't wait to watch/missed an episode of some stupid tv show. And, I hate the idea of people having that much power over the internet.
