What's Up (eps 1-2)

I have just finished the first two episodes of the new Korean drama, What's Up?, and I think I'm going to like this drama. The first two episodes are very much a set up of whose who and where the story lines and relationships might be headed. Honestly, why did it take so long for this to find a channel and spot to air on?

Like Dream High, it seems like we'll be following a core group of students, with several recurring background students. Dream High had six high school students, but What's Up? has seven. And, like Dream High, the characters of What's Up? more or less start off as drama cliches and stereotypes, but I can see them evolving into so much more.

Our lead appears to be Jang Jae-Hun, who enters the musical theater university, because he accidentally applied to the wrong major. He also caused an accident that killed a man.

Ha Do-Sung is a famous internet singer, whose secret family background, makes it so he can't reveal his real identity. He decides to put his "career" on hold, so he can go to university.

Park Tae-Yi is a poor country girl, whose father was recently killed in an accident. She often talks to his spirit and quickly forms a friendship with the two guys.

Oh Doo-Ri has a stage mother the she, who dresses her as a doll. Once she gets into the school she chops off her hair and gets out her camera. I think her real passion is behind the camera, not in front of it.

Eun Chae-Young is a bitchy B-list actress, who wants to show that she actually has talent. So, she's entered the musical department.

Lee Soo-Bin is a mysterious and brooding violin player. He and CY may have a past.

Kim Byung-Hun is the often forgotten son of a rich family. He's often overlooked and just wants to be noticed.

The show is off to a great start, and I'm sure it won't happen but

I'm already shipping JH and TY. Why?

- The look totally adorable in the preview for episode three. Dancing and signing in the street.
- He was part of the accident that killed her father.
- JH and DS are roommates and are quickly becoming friends and DS is clearly the co-male lead in this and DS clearly already has a crush on TY. It's a classic set up.

So, yup - loving it. Watch it!
