It may seem like I'm only watch three dramas: Giant, Gloria, and Mary Stayed Out All Night, but that's not true. Yes, they are the ones I gush and rant about, but there are other dramas on my watching list. The thing is most of them are slow with the subtitles, so I don't really write about them or I am watching, but am unsure if others want to read my thoughts.
Now, because the semster is nearly over - as are some of the Japanese dramas I'm watching - I've decided to share some thoughts and pimp some dramas. And, yes, there are spoilers.
Dramas I'll Watch When Subtitles Are Out:
Nagareboshi, I know someone is subbing this on their own, and I tried episode one with their subtitles. However, I didn't really like them. So, I'm waiting for the subtitle group that picked it up to sub the show. I'm not sure when I'll be able to watch this, but I'm looking forward to it as I loved the "old school" feel of the first episode.
Dramas I'll Be Watching Soon:
Himitsu, I watched the first two episodes of this and enjoyed. I know how it all ends, so I'm going to watch the remaining episodes in marathon style after the show ends.
Playful Kiss, I watched episodes 1-6 and really enjoyed them. It's a cute show with a nice little storyline. I plan to watch episodes 7-16 in marathon style after my finals.
Other Korean Dramas I'm Watching:
Dae mul, I watched the first three episodes with HaruHaru subtitles and fell in love. I know there are other subtitles out there, but they use Google translator. So, I'll be waiting for Haru's subtitles. Until they come out, I'm keeping up with the show via soompi. I have a feeling this will be a favorite of the year for me.
Japanese Dramas I'm Watching:
Reinoryokusha Odagiri Kyoko no Uso, I've watched episodes one-four and have really enjoyed it. The episodes are fairly predictable and formulaic, but the leads save the show. Ishihara Satomi is freakishly adorable in this and Tanihara Shosuke has long been a (secret crush) favorite. They shine together, and its very fun to watch them play off one another. Yes, the show is a bit silly at times, but it really is a fun (and quick) watch.
Q10, subtitles for episodes one and two are out. It's an original story written by the writer of Nobuta wo Produce and Sexy Voice and Robo about a high school boy who befriends (and falls for) a robot. At first I wasn't sure what to expect from this show - it sounded it bit silly - but I'm pleasantly surprised. The first episode was rather slow and made me think I knew what would happen. But, episode two changed some of my thoughts.
The writer has a lovely way of writing teenagers with realistic issues. This drama really feels like a story about a group of 17 year olds growing up. One of them just happens to be a robot that is learning about the world, as the others try and figure out the world. And with episode 6, well, things are certainly getting interesting.
Guilty, Akuma to Keiyakushita Onna, I've watched all six episodes with subtitles and all I can say is - what a ride. The twists and turns in this story are insane. I love that episodes 5 and 6 answered some questions, but also raised new ones. I love that we now know Meiko as all sorts of plans to make sure she doesn't hurt the innocent. Her plan Bs have plan Bs! And, the way she's working with the journalist! The very fact that this whole thing - her being framed for murder - goes all the way to the top, really makes me question a few things. Why her? Why her family? Why the lies? I watch this every week and always get very excited for more.
I love a good mystery, and this is certainly a mystery I'm looking forward to solving.
Overall I'm really loving this winter drama season.
