He's the enemy? Why does that sound like something out of a war film?

My Dad has gone totally and utterly insane. First, he tells me that FOX News is the only true source of journalism in the United States. Yes, FOX News. Then, he tells me that John Stewart is "the enemy" and some other thing I didn't catch. But, still - John Stewart? That guy from The Daily Show? Yeah. My Dad also told me that, "People are buying ( Read more... )

The conspiracy theorist I work with (really scary guy sometimes, you should hear his theories on 9-11) says that people are afraid that someone will assassinate President-Elect Obama and then terrorists will attack in the ensuing chaos while we're leader-less.

It's what people were afraid would happen when JFK was assassinated, that our enemies (Russia & Cuba at the time?) would seize the opportunity and attack.

It's totally possible that people are worried about an assassination. I think what's really bothing me is the fact that my dad seems to think Obama will "let the Mulisms in" to "take over and put us in camps". And whats worse is he's not alone in these thoughts.

Ah...apparently that comes from a quote from the book he wrote about his father. He stated that if "the situation became difficult" he would be on the side of the muslims.

I'm not sure of the context, but then, I didn't read the book, just the articles about the uproar over the statements.

I know of many people that have not read the book fully, but focus just one a few quotes. That doesn't seem very fair to me. If you are going to judge someone, at least take the time to fully read the man's book.

I agree that it might not totally be Obama. But, you wouldn't know that where I am. :/ I have to rant and say: the way my dad and his friends talk, you'd think the Democrats and Obama are going to personally come to their doors, take their guns, and then stick them in camps of some sort. My mom is even talking seriously about moving to Canada ( ... )

A revolution against what? The democratically elected president of the biggest democracy on earth? That makes... not a whole lot of sense.

Good question. What revolution? What camps? If you dislike the democratically elected president, at least have reasons (solid, well thought out, can be proven) reasons as to why.

And why do these people think there will be camps? Which I personally think makes a mockery out of those people who were in actual camps both here and in Europe. How dare my father and people like him joke about being put in camps? To me that's a horrible and almost flip and cruel thing to say.
