[The shaking from outside doesn't sound very safe, and true to childlike curiosity, Elaine feels the immediate need to check what's going on. She finds Sailor Saturn in the gardes. Standing a bit back from the scene, she watches with a small amount of apprehension as the other girl practices.]
[Unaware of Elaine's presence, Hotaru repeats the attack with much the same effect. It's hard to tell if she's satisfied with it, though--her expression doesn't change much.
When she straightens up this time, she sets the end of the glaive down on the ground next to her and sighs.]
[Hotaru turns toward Elaine quickly, surprised that she hadn't noticed her arrive. She's also surprised that people she knows don't recognize her...maybe just just part of the whole "magical girl" thing?]
...I've been here a little while. I'm called Sailor Saturn.
You... feel familiar. Like I've met you before. [That's about as far into the topic Elaine will go. If the girl wants to keep her identity secret, then Elaine won't complain.]
[She gestures at the glaive, as wella as the nearby cracks and the damage to the garden.] You were practicing?
You have. [Hotaru is cautious. She isn't used to the need for secrecy--she wasn't a senshi for very long before she died--but she understands why it might be preferable. She wants to see if Elaine can guess who she is on her own, though. It would be useful to know just how difficult it is for people to see through her "disguise". And besides, she trusts Elaine.]
Yes, I was. [She looks down at the cracks in the ground.] It's hard to judge the strength of the attack though, when it's not used against something living.
Have I? [She looks more closely at Hotaru, trying to remember. The want to cheat, by probing the other girl's mind, is strong. Elaine respects privacy, however, and doesn't do so. There's an aura of power around Hotaru that covers her usual self that Elaine can't seem to penetrate. Or rather, she's unwilling to try. Using her powers often leaves her tired, not to mention grumpy. It's been that way ever since she got her new powers, and couldn't learn how to control them.] I'm sorry, I don't remember.
It's good to practice, but I'd rather not see anything living get hurt. If you don't mind. [Elaine's voice is concerned, and she hopes she doesn't come off as sounding threatening.]
I agree with you. [She had wanted to avoid even the possibility of someone getting caught in an attack, so he had deliberately tried to find an isolated area.
She looks at Elaine curiously for a moment, then glances over to make sure that the communicator is off. In case she decides to transform back into her normal form, she doesn't want all of Wonderland to see it.]
[The words make Elaine feel more secure, and she follows Hotaru's gaze down to her communicator, curious as to why she would look at it. She glances back at Hotaru.]
[Satisfied, Hotaru meets Elaine's gaze and she offers her a slightly sheepish smile. Closing her eyes, she concentrates like Usagi taught her. Her clothing shimmers a bit, and changes into her normal clothes. The glaive in her hand disappears. She might actually be slightly shorter now, too.]
We're supposed to keep our identities a secret. But I guess it doesn't matter so much, here.
Hotaru! [Elaine is surprised. Earlier she had only vaguely recognized her, but now it was so obvious that she couldn't understand how she hadn't seen it before.]
No, I suppose it doesn't matter so much. At least, you can be sure I won't tell anyone.
