Insulted. . . .

I remember a friend telling me NOT to move into a Senior Apartment building (affectionately referred to as "Geezer Barracks") because the old biddies living there have nothing better to do than gossip about their neighbors, start malicious rumors and generally make life miserable for their targets. I wanted a garden and a yard, so I went where I could based on what I had to spend.

Seems some of that bullshit has come around to me. People around here consider me reclusive. So what? I travel a lot and am not home much. That seems to irk them. I detect green-eyed monsters lurking about.

When I started my gardening, I got seed, bulb and flower catalogs as I could not find what I wanted locally. I brought a few catalogs to the clubhouse once and was told by the ladies who play cards there in the afternoon that they really appreciated the catalogs, both flower and non-gardening sort. I was asked to bring more. Okay. That was a request and I am not one to turn down a request nicely given.

I was awakened yesterday morning by a rather loud blustery man from #6. He said he was the husband of the park's librarian and that "they" wanted me to stop bringing catalogs to the club house as "NO ONE" wanted them. He told me to throw them away or recycle them, then hung up. THAT rankled me. Was the librarian so cowardly that she could not "request" I stop then have her husband call demanding I stop. I am insulted by this ploy.

Am I done with it? Yes! I will no longer take catalogs there. I WILL, however, continue to drop off books and magazines I have read and want to share.

Do I expect to hear from them again? Sure! They started what I would call bullying . . . telling me what to do in a loud, rough demanding voice . . . and having her minion do the dirty work. If there is more, I plan to confront them in my "Own" loud intimidating "teacher" voice, but only if I believe I stand in the right and not the wrong. There is no room for my ego in this. I simply wish to share my love of animals, astronomy and sci-fi with anyone who can find interest or delight in them.
