Kumoricon: The first Day

Outside temp: Low eighties
I( got up, showered, dressed and wentout with my Lady to get her registered. Registration was in the garage along with the dealers room. The line was too long and set in the sun. It was too hot for my Lady so I figured we could come back later on.
I had a lot to do in regards to wearing Renny today. The con and hotel have a "no mask" policy in certain areas and they decide what costumes are appropriate or not. I had to go into conops to see if I could bring Renny out. That worked all right. The reason for no masks is basically the hotel's move to keep security tight. I can understand that. Renny cannot go into the hotel lobby or some events. That's fine with me. Renny went to play.
Around three in the afternoon I took my Lady to registration. The only way to get there was outside, walking around the hotel to the garage entrance. My Lady got too arm, but at least the long lines were gone. The heat was close to ninety inside. Humidity had to be 95 -- 100%. The big air conditioners the con rented had failed. No air came from the huge ducts strung around. Strategically placed fans helped a bit. I got my Lady registered.
Getting into the dealer's area was another problem. They had a long line set up to enter the area. It seems there were too many people in the place and the fire marshal would not let any more people in to see dealers. It was not amenable to any of the con goers there. They have to do something better. The garage is NOT a place to hold an event,. No air conditioning, horrid lighting. WAAy too dim. Good for a garage, but not for dealers hoping to sell their goods. My tour of the room got me no where. I think the lighting was too poor for me to find anime DVDs. I did not see any. Lots of jewelry, lotsa books, lotsa cosplay things for costuming, lotsa artists selling their wares, but I did not see any DVDs. I will try tomorrow in the morning when \i am not Renny. Maybe I can find what I want.
