Once more it was Savannah and K-Mart who came up with an idea to keep their family's wee children occupied and out of trouble. (Hear the gods laugh and that last part.) They also thought this idea might help out some of their freaked out classmates who weren't used to this weekend happening

Practice Ring

There is a roped-off practice ring for those that "require"/"demanded" it. There are no real weapons. Not even wooden practice ones. All of the weapons are Nerf-type weapons.

A few yards away from the practice ring is an area with three targets set up. These are for the suction cup bow and arrow sets and suction cup pistols.

You do not want to let any of the adults catch you shooting other things besides the targets. Please do not make the witches angry, okay?

Surprisingly enough, Mairin was behaving quite well in the practice ring. She was waving her Nerf sword as she danced around the ring. Every so often she would stop and deliver a stunning hit to the ropes or the wooden posts that were holding the rope up.

She was a fierce swordswoman like her mommy, you see.

Marion wanted to practice with the sword (and who didn't love a Nerf weapon?) but she was afraid it'd be unfair to challenge the little one.

Mairin turned and then ran pell-mell at her sister. "Marion!"

She actually liked this one, you see.

Marion grinned. Mairin was her favorite of her her unexpected sisters. Maybe cause of the name. "Mairin! Are you winning?"

Mairin nodded. "I'm a fierce warrior like Mommy and I haven't even had to use my magic yet."

"Oh you can use magic too? Dad and Grandpa Faust have been arguing about when I should learn it."

"They should let you learn now. Go ask Mommy and she will say yes to magics. It's the bestest."

"I'm totally gonna do that." Marion nodded. She figured if she could get Granddad Faust, Mom, and Teleri to gang up on Grandma Faust, and Dad, it should be a piece of cake. Maybe Aunt Eleziane too. "What sort of magic can you do?"

Mairin grinned and created a very tiny fireball in her hand. "I know Latins! And some other words."

"Oh wow! That's soooo cool! I know a bit of latin too. And some pig latin." It had unfortunately not fooled her father when she tried to swear using it.

"I didn't know pigs knew Latin, too," Mairin said, very impressed with the knowledge of her big sister.

Marion's not correcting Mairin had less to do with teasing her, as it did with that idea just being too cool to disabuse her of. "I think the pigs have forgotten it. Sort of how like most people don't know People Latin."

Marion had yet to be able to reach the skill level of her mom or granddad Hood. But she wasn't gonna let that stop her from practicing with the bow and arrow.

*twang!* The arrow bounced off the target instead of sticking. She said a word in Irish that she'd learned from one of her Faery cousins. A word Aunt Teleri would have washed her mouth out for saying.

"You don't train every day like you're supposed to, do you?"

"I do so!" Of course to her playing in Sherwood Forest or Central Park counted as practicing. Also she had to practice with the sword too.
