One of the really good things my work does

OK. I resolve customer complaints at my workplace, [direct-mail subsidiary of Major Newspaper]. We are currently in the middle of what I'll call the World Santa program, which donates and organizes donations of toys, books, and holiday goodies to [my state] families who otherwise would not be able to afford gifts for their kids this Consumerism Season.

One of the ladies on the extensive list of recipients looked out on her front step this morning and found an OPEN box containing THREE of the six items she should have received for her child. I just spoke with one of our Operations guys and our Quality Assurance guy, and confirmed with my own eyes that these boxes are sealed up tight with heavy-duty paper tape. The process of packing is monitored, and the boxes are locked up prior to shipment, so the shenanigans are not at our end. Someone- either a postal employee or a passerby who saw the World Santa sticker on the box- has taken this lady's little kid's holiday gifts, which she cannot afford to replace. I will put her back into the queue to receive everything she is currently missing, but I'm pretty miffed about it.

Anyway. The community I originally posted about has had a few people interested in contributing to this program, which is wicked cool. If anyone who reads me wants to throw in, I'm digging up the address to send stuff to. Let me know if it piques your interest.
