Let me tell you a little something about unpaid internships. Better yet, let me tell you something about BORING unpaid internships. They suck. There, I said it. This is seriously one of the most boring mind numbing things I have ever done in my life, and I did half a semester in an honors Lit class.
If you didn’t already know, I am interning at the Marketing and Public Relations department of St Joseph's/Candler health system (two hospitals that joined together) I do little more than looking through regional newspapers and other publications looking for a mention if St. Joseph’s/Candler or one of the "competing" hospitals in the area. Let me tell you, it is just as fun as it sounds. I actually think it would be more fun to watch the hair grow in a donkey's ass. I am actually writing this while at the internship. For something that’s supposed to be giving me real world experience in a given field, I sure do have a ton of free time.
Luckily the people I am working for/with are nice and pretty laid back. If I don’t want to show up, I really don’t have to, I just do it anyway cuz I need as many hours as possible to get out of college this December. Man I can't WAIT for the 16 and 1/2 years of school to be over this December. I just don’t know what in the HELL I am going to do for a living.
One thought that has crossed my mind is an extended trip to Ireland. Save up some money, put the car and the furniture into storage for a while, and just leave the country for a few months. It will be nice to live it up for a while, and focus on my writing and the like, as I don’t think I will ever get that kind of opportunity again. Gotta strike while the balls are hot.
Oh, and I am going to Atlanta this weekend to begin my move from old apartment, or as I call it Mount St Shitstack, and into Will and Christine’s pad.
Flank Out.
(Now with spelling!!)
