Five hundred twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes, how do you measure, measure a year?
It hasn't been quite a year since I've posted here, but in ways in feels like it. The line above is from the lead song to the musical Rent I watched the QuickTime trailer recently, and liked the song, so I bought it from iTunes, and found it to be rather addicting and reflection-provoking.
The last five months have been filled with all those little moments, filling up a few hundred thousand minutes with mostly happiness, and a fair amount of change.
In three weeks from today, I'll be preparing to start work in a different building and a different organization than I've been working in for almost 5 years. My job has always meant a lot to me, and working at the University has given me a chance to make a difference. I hope I have. And I hope I will continue to in a new job, and a new role and in a new place. It's not really part of the University, but I'll still be there, and that means a lot to me. NC State means a lot to me. The people there mean a lot to me.
In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee. In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.
As I guess the brown-eyed girl could also attest, what a difference 525,600 minutes makes, much has changed in the last year. There's a happiness now that wasn't then. And as she and I face these changes together, it will be interesting to see what the next year brings. What I guess I hope is that I make as much of a difference in life, as she has made in mine.
525,600 minutes! 525,000 journeys to plan.
I hope.
