You probably know exactly where that plantation is, then (it's the big one just outside Thibodaux, closer to that town than to Houma, actually). Dorie lived and worked there before we brought here here; Callistus and Dee both worked in New Orleans proper, though his field office was in Houma for some crazy reason.

No, I hadn't known that at the time. Illyria and I get along fairly well now, though her attitude takes some getting used to. Dee is very much his mother's son in some respects as far as personality traits go. Considering we both dearly love the same man, it's easier to call a truce. Besides, he threatened to knock both our heads together if we didn't quit sniping at one another.

To be fair and accurate, I still had some use of my legs at the time he took me there and could walk short distances. While they weren't great for getting myself up off of flat ground, once braced in a stirrup I did have enough power to use the stirrup as a lever while I pulled myself up by the pommel. Most horses if they're well trained don't mind the sudden extra weight. Now, I would need to teach one to kneel or to build a mounting platform.
