o4fuxache What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Got a tattoo, flew internationally by myself for purposes other than mission trips, navigated a subway system, navigated a subway system while drunk off my ass in a dirndl, went the whole year without kissing anyone except people I'm related to (unless Kate gets frisky tonight, which I highly doubt, considering she's taking enough painkillers to knock out a large farm animal), gone on an actual facts date, set up residence in a double wide trailer, and applied for a position as an assistant manager (and got it).
Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
In an effort to not disappoint myself, I don't believe I made any. I could be a liar.
As for resolutions this year?
In an effort to not disappoint myself, I'm not going to make any.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.
Did anyone close to you die?
My mom's mother and the wife of the choir director at my church.
What countries did you visit?
Does flying through Canada count? Because I definitely heard people say "eh." I also went to Germany and Austria.
What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
someone to kiss.
What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Probably 9/28, as that's the day I started my new job. I already don't remember the date of my grandmother's death, but that day doesn't feel as important as the rest of her life.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
My promotion. And traveling independently.
What was your biggest failure?
I haven't had anything that's major, unless it's not getting promoted to assistant manager in OKC.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
The usual mostly: allergies and asthma. My asthma is the only thing I visited a doctor for.
What was the best thing you bought?
Plane tickets to Germany.
Whose behavior merited celebration?
My dad's, although I can't really tell him that. He is SO MUCH less of an asshole now that he is no longer in the army. I didn't realize how much that job completely stressed him out, but he LOVES working at the university and the children's hospital. Much, much better.
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My brother and my sister-in-law. They've started using Liam as a weapon.
Where did most of your money go?
GAS, traveling expenses and souvenirs in Germany, books and dvds.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Traveling to Germany, seeing Kelly, moving home, which was more of a mixed bag of emotions, but still something I was excited about.
What song will always remind you of 2010?
Viva la Vida.
Compared to this time last year, are you...
Happier or sadder? I'm on an even keel with last year, I think. I didn't like being so far from my family, but I had a lot of friends last year. This year, I am close to my family, but I don't have as many friends.
Thinner or fatter? Same.
Richer or poorer? richer.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish I'd gone to the gym more, eaten more things that are healthy for me, talked to more people before leaving OKC, seen more live theater/music.
What do you wish you’d done less of?
whining, gossiping, threatening to hit people in the face.
How will you be spending New Years Eve?
Chilling with drugged out Kate watching some movies and drinking cider. :)
Did you fall in love in 2010?
Nope.
How many one-night stands?
Zero
What was your favourite TV program?
Mmm.... well. There are several that I tried to never miss, but probably So You Think You Can Dance. It's the only one I saw every ep of.
Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No. In fact, I hate less people this year.
What was the best book you read?
Tough call, but probably the one I just finished, Hyperion by Dan Simmons.
What was your greatest musical discovery?
I rediscovered Coldplay and that they're actually a band I like, instead of a band who produced a couple of songs that I like. Coffey Anderson.
What did you want and get?
A tattoo, a promotion to assistant manager, a trip to Germany, time spent with friends and family, a Wii. :)
What was your favourite film of this year?
ARG. This question, for whatever reason, is harder than the book question this year. I just don't know. I'm going to go with Inception or How To Train Your Dragon.
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Well, on my actual birthday I went to church in the morning, found out about the death of a friend in the afternoon, and went to get three separate pieces of cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory, because I didn't want to have to choose. To further celebrate, Amy and I went down to Six Flags just before my birthday, but I only got to go on five or six rides, because it started raining half way through our day. I turned 29.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting to have my cake and eat it too. Uh... finding a way to teleport so I can still hang out with all my peeps in OKC while living here in Texas with my fam.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
chucks. chucks, jeans, and t-shirts.
What kept you sane?
friends and family
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Most? Might have been Ryan Reynolds. But I didn't really go crazy over anyone this year.
What political issue stirred you the most?
HR 875 and DADT.
Who did you miss?
Marilee, my granny, all my friends in OKC
Who were the best new people you met?
My new boss and all the people related to my new job that I didn't know from before.
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.
Oh geez. Uh. Sometimes the path of least resistance is easiest because it's right.
Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I promise I will learn from my mistakes
