i hope i die before i get old (talkin' 'bout my generation)

Oh, The Who. A friend let me borrow "The Kids Are Alright" and now I LOVE THE WHO. I mean, I liked them before, but listening to songs is just nothing like watching old footage. *sighs* Keith, Roger, and Pete were RIDICULOUS onstage and I'd almost feel sorry for John (so serious and stodgy and British) except that he clearly loves it.

I love Wikipedia too. I just didn't get the stuttering on My Generation at all and it's the first song, so I hadn't heard them do anything live before and so my brain went down this huge thought process involving stuttering and being a rock star and how hard that must be and how I bet he's the most successful stuttering rock star in the world, if there are even any others, and then it turns out it's a gimmick. And I just didn't get the gimmick. According to Wiki they never actually explained it but there are theories, and theories are good enough for me.

Highlight of the whole experience was an early interview with Pete. He'd previously said that The Who wasn't interested in making quality music, just in sound sensation. An interviewer asked about that comment and mentioned the Beatles. Pete perked up and said that he and Keith had been listening to a stereo recording of the Beatles, vocals on one speaker and music on another and when you just hear the music, "they're kind of crap."

Oh, Pete.

Went to the zoo today for the first time since I was a kid and I went with a two year old and his mother, SO FUN. Seriously. Zeke got so excited every time we saw a new animal and he was running from exhibit to exhibit and the monkies were his clear favorite. So. Cute.

And now I must work. *sighs*
