Being a tour guide is always awkward when you're not that familiar with the area yourself.
The marketplace, at least, is both close to the ship (meaning they're unlikely to get lost) and likely to have interesting things to look at (meaning his guest won't get bored).
Simon throws a glance up at the younger Winchester brother, to gauge his initial reaction.
"All right, well ... there's always just browsing. We're bound to find something interesting."
If it sounds a little uncertain, that's less to do with the marketplace itself and more to do with having very little idea what Sam Winchester might be interested in.
The nearest stall is selling wooden dishes, beautifully carved and stained. Next to that is one stocked with used books -- actual paper books, some of them very battered, some wrapped in clear protective plastic. Across the aisle is a double-wide stall selling small machine parts.
Farther down -- Simon cranes his neck a little to look -- is some kind of bright banner fluttering over the walkway.
"Well, its economy is heavily based on the tourist trade," Simon starts. "It's reasonably industrial, though not at the level of sophistication you'd get on the Core worlds ... is that what you mean?"

His glance lingers for a moment on a shuttle passing overhead, then tracks down the nearest street.
For all that he seems relaxed and easy, it's clear that he's not missing much that's going on around them.

The books appear to draw his interest-- but the people more so.
"What kind of place is this? The planet, I mean."
