ICU hasn't affected me to date, but today was a bit sad. A 90 year old man needed an x-ray for correct PICC line insertion, and he was just skin and bones. His skin was torn and bruised all over. I don't think I've ever seen anyone as frail as he was, and there was a large pool of blood which had soaked into the bed from the catheter insertion.
On a good note, I did a "beautiful" horizontal beam lateral knee today. A post-op total knee replacement with the prosthetic condyles perfectly superimposed. Luck.
