Yesterday I went to see girugamesh on their CRAZY TOUR '09 IN EUROPE opening live in Tavastia with
sebis,
pinguwin and another LJ-less friend who we had spent May Day with (which was when she decided to come along after we had watched the MUSIC DVD).
I don't know if it's because of the stress I have been under lately or just because of my crappy memory and general fail, but I remember quite little of the live, I just know that it was CRAZILY AWESOME! 8DD /bad pun XD But I'll still post what I remember, it's a good way to procrastinate stupid studying.
Our trip to Helsinki didn't start off too well when I realized in the local bus on my way to the bus station that I had forgotten my ticket home. ^^' So we had to postpone our plans and go to Helsinki on the next bus so I could go get my ticket and thanks to that, our time in Helsinki before the queuing was reduced to an hour. That didn't bother me even nearly as much as the queuing itself did however. We thought that the same rule from before that the queuing is allowed only 3 hours before the doors are opened would still be in use but when we arrived to the club fifteen minutes before the queuing was supposed to start we found out that there already was a queue in front of the club. >_> Defeated, we went to the end of the queue and complained how we wouldn't be able to buy hoodies as those are always sold out first. That complaining ended up being useless as they weren't even selling hoodies in the merchandise stand which I think is weird because it would’ve been very fitting to the band's image now as the band was wearing black hoodies instead of suits in the live.
After buying one of the three t-shirts we went to wait for the live to start and I just have to comment that they were playing Linkin Park in the background which was a huge improvement compared to what is usually playing in there. We had decided to stay at the back of the club in front of the mixing table as opposed to killing ourselves in the middle of the crowd.
After the usual impatient waiting, the lights finally went out and as the audience started cheering I missed the beginning but there was a weird robotic voice talking and it told us to enjoy the crazy craziness. XD After that, the -INTRO- from MUSIC began and the band walked into the smoky stage. The first one to come onstage was ShuU, who had the black make-up blindfold over his eyes and it looked really cool live when I had previously thought it a bit ridiculous. Яyo came after ShuU and was followed by Nii and finally Satoshi who didn't have his hair on curls like I had hoped but had instead cut his hair, I was disappointed at first but the shorter hair was actually pretty cute.
Just as -INTRO- ended, Break Down started and it was the perfect opening song! I love the song to pieces and it was just utterly awesome to hear it live so it made me really excited and I believe that was the case with the rest of the audience as well.
Like I said previously, I have no idea whatsoever of the setlist, every time I think about the live I just remember the excitement and the awesome feeling and just a few songs but I believe that they played almost all of the songs in MUSIC. They also played a song I didn't recognize, before the song Satoshi said something about a new song so it could've been ALIVE but it didn't sound like the preview I had heard, it was missing the amazing chorus... They also included some of the older songs in the setlist, like smash!! which was really awesome and so much fun!! 8DD patchwork after ShuU's MC, Deceived Mad Pain, Dance Rock Nigh and shining in the encore.
puzzle is my favourite song from MUSIC so I was really happy when they played it and it sounded so beautiful with the audience singing the "I can see the way" and "free for all" parts. The song was followed by Ishtar and it was really pretty too. In both songs Satoshi screamed the ends of some verses and it sounded amazing.
If I'm not completely wrong, the band played the Mission Impossible theme after that and it was really fun with the audience clapping their hands the whole time. The song then led straight into Deceived Mad Pain.
Interestingly enough, the highlight of the live for me ended up being evolution. I have said many times that I find the song annoying because of the shrill English parts but live it was simply asjgfjdfmashfjaszmAWESOME!! 8DD When the song started, pretty much everyone in the audience went crazy (no pun intended this time XD) and the explosion in the audience was so great that it made me do the same even when I didn't really like the song but after a while I realized how wrong I had been for not liking it. The audience was singing the annoying English parts which weren't annoying anymore but extremely fun and the whole song had such great energy in it. 8D While I may still not love the album version of the song I love it live and girugamesh should have it in their setlists forever on!
One thing I was really excited about, and more than a little surprised, was when ShuU had an MC. 8D First he was yelling "yeah" repeatedly in a very cool manner and after that he asked "What's up?" Then he got a cheat sheet and rather proudly showed it to us. XD He said that there were a lot of... something today. I heard that he said "rain" but it must've been "people" because as far as I know the live was sold out. He also said that he was very happy and excited to be back in here. ♥ He read from the paper but glanced up at the audience pretty often and his English was surprisingly good! 8D I could understand everything he said, if not counting the rain thing. XD He ended the MC by screaming "Are you ready?!" into the mic many times. I wasn't expecting him to have an MC as all even Satoshi had said were "thank you" (with variable pronouncing XD) "come on, Helsinki" and I think he also said that he was happy to be back but I'm not sure at all.
The live was a real joy to watch and participate in as the band was so energetic! 8D Satoshi was moving in a similar way than in the Break Down PV, he also pulled his hood over his head in several songs and it looked really cool. ShuU and Nii were running around in the small stage and ShuU lifted his bass in the air many times. Яyo deserves a big thanks even for just the reason that in any other lives I have been to the drummer is lost in the background but he certainly was not! He made himself seen as he stood up behind the drums and hit his drumsticks together or was just hitting one in the air if he needed the other to play when he motioned for the audience to clap their hands, even when there was the rest of the band to do that. And sometimes it seemed like he just got up for the sake of getting attention. XD The band also made the audience participate a lot which I love, they told us to shout, jump, clap our hands many times and Satoshi held out the mic to us when we were supposed to sing. ShuU and Яyo were the ones who stayed on stage the longest before the encore and after the live, and Яyo was really cute in the end when everyone else had left the stage. He had a long towel with which he did a cute dance ♥ XD he held the towel from both ends and moved it sideways in front of his face and in the end shook it above his head and threw it into the audience.
I think this live was better than the one last year, the setlist was better, even if we didn't get Owari to Mirai and Kowarete Iku Sekai this time, and the band had more energy. But sadly, the live was pretty short, only one and a half hours and they only played one song in the encore which I found weird. But the quality surely made up for the quantity! 8D
