So St. John's has apparently received rather mild weather this year in comparison to previous ones. Figures. I tend to bring my weather with me wherever I go in most cases, and thus wherever I travel, I experience mild weather rather than the extremes I look forward to. EG-Lots of snow.
However, this evening I'm in for a treat even while sleeping. Around 8pm tonight we're expected to start receiving the 15-25 cm of snow forcasted for the night along with 70 km/hr gusts of wind to create pleasant blowing snow conditions. WOOT! Luckily I don't drive and I rely on a rather crappy bus system. Reminds me of Abbotsford's crappy transit system actually. However, when Metrobus shuts down so do the campuses as most of the students rely on the bus system over vehicles. But apparently they rarely shut down, even when buses are sliding rather than driving down hills. Eep. That's all I'll say about that.
I went into the room for MUGS (Memorial University Geography Society) yesterday and was introduced to a few board members and regular loungers. Super nice folks and we're planning a mixer for a couple weeks from now. Apparently the bulk of snow St. John's receives is mid Jan-Late February...lots of snow and blizzards. MUGS is going to plan a slide day which is basically crazy carpets, large hills combined with uber amound of liquor. Oh no...really the liquor is functional as it keeps you warmer so you stay outside longer ;)
I had a rather lazy feeling day today. I was up early at 7am to get to the school for 9am for an appointment with the out of province student loans dude that I mentioned. Well I received $250.00 as an emergency student loan today which helped me get the books I need. BCSAP has prepared to issue funds according to a nice email they sent me..so who knows how long that will take. My BC student loan has a confirmation of enrollment form they have to sign and fax over, and CSL I have a small part for the school to fill out and then I go to post office as usual. I need my money!!!!! Argh.
So what day is it tomorrow? Thursday? Nothing planned. Saturday I will be screeched in by the roomies. Should be much fun. Will take photos and post.
Will update when I have more to say! Cheerio dahlings!
