I've had the WORST writer's block lately, and a more elaborate version of this has been playing at my mind, but I knew I'd never actually write it. And then the drabble prompt was 'smoke' and I woke up this morning and it was literally the first thing to pop into my head. Hope you like <3 Cut lyrics from Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water.
Cigarettes - that’s how Adam knows he fucked up. Everyone knows Cassidy’s a social smoker, but his friends know he’s also an emotional smoker. And there’s nothing social about the way he’s sitting alone on the porch steps, lighting his second consecutive cigarette.
Adam sighs softly to himself and knocks back a good portion of his rum and coke as he watches the smoke curl up into the air. He watches as Brad goes outside and tries to talk to him, returning only moments later, giving Adam a pointed look.
He figures if Cassidy lights a third one, he’ll go apologise.
