One of the reasons I love Mary, is one of the reasons I think fandom don't love her: she's not always a likable character. She has flaws, and she does things that aren't right, honorable or nice. But for me, the flawed characters are always the most interesting. And Mary grows so much over the first season, we see her on top, struggling to keep up appearances and loosing all just when she realized she wanted it.
