Weekend in Arabia

We lived.

Thursday was a girls' night at another compound. There was dancing and drinking and some boys dropped in and there were even awards for cutest outfit and best legs.

Friday morning Dave has a softball game. It was at the American school, which was all hidden away. We parked in a dirt parking lot and entered through a little door in a wall, which opened up into an area that resembled a country club. We passed through there and suddenly everything was in colour!

There was a guy cooking hot dogs, kids has popcorn and sno-cones and there were baseball caps everywhere. I sat on the bleachers with the other softball wives and we cheered and hollered. They even had an announcer who gave the boys nicknames like Gonzo and Mad Dog and Big Poppa. Dave was "The Bear." It truly felt like an American baseball game on TV. The boys won and we had to go back for an evening game last night, which they lost. We had samosas and naan with hummous and club sandwiches for supper, while we watched a beautiful far-away lightning storm.

It was pretty awesome to see Dave play and it was fun to hoot and cheer from the stands.

Today we went shopping for things for our trip to India. We got our malaria prophylactics at the clinic and then got sunscreen and lanocaine, imodium and books for the beach. We had hommous and shanklish and shish taouk for lunch. I love living in Arabia. Delicious, cheap food. I have all out travel documents in order: three sets of e-tickets, entry visas, exit visa and hotel vouchers. Look out, Goa.
