I need to learn Robyn Hitchock's "I Wish I Liked You" for a play. There are no tabs. There are no videos. It is pretty well embellished, electric blues, and I need to play it acoustic. If I can figure this song out, I think I can die happy.

An admirable goal, my friend. I've been transcribing a version of "After You're Gone" by Django Reinhardt and the Hot Quartet &c (orignal score by H. Creamer and T. Layton) for what seems like forever. It's somewhat relaxing. It reminds me of a family story Helen and I were talking about the other day. When we were kids Dad used to play this very unique transcription of Pachelbel's Canon in D by a Charles Lindburg. We both remember the version and the sheet music quite vividly, yet it was lost in the flurry of divorce and my father forgot the notes after a few years. We both would love to have the sheet music now that we can appreciate The Piano but sadly it appeared to be the only copy in existence. We looked everywhere for years at music stores and all over the internet and it seems like no one had ever even heard of Lindburg's version of the Canon. Anyway it's just a bit of lost sentiment. Maybe one day it will turn up somewhere and we can play it again. If you ever need help transcribing, let me know and I'll give it a crack.

Haha, thanks John, the same to you! I do not dare dream of transcribing something by Django Reinhardt for another few years, or at least not until I have the time to do it. I posted in reddit/r/blues about the song I'm working on, and though what I have there is loose, it works, if you're interested.

As for Lindburg's Cannon in D, I hope you get to find it some time soon. I'll keep an eye out for as well. There are a few songs my mother used to play on piano when we still lived in Glen Ellen, I couldn't have been more than five or six, that I will probably never remember the names of, so in some way, I empathize.

It's strange the things our consciousness fixes on as emblems... ey?
