[ GONE ]✘ SGM AVERY JUNIOR JOHNSON ▻ 2sticksandarockHistory: Best, best bro. Johnson might be the only person besides Cortana that Chief is likely to open up to and show a touch of warmth. He'd go to almost any length for him, and trusts him without question. Even if he listens to annoying music.
Johnson was the first person Chief made contact with on the network and set him up with a place to a stay. He also introduced Chief to Villetta and her gun shop, Practical Tactical. When Johnson vanished from the island, Chief took over the rent and his left-behind gear, trusting the man would be back some day because the idea of nothing but his death awaiting him is a little too grim to contemplate.

✘ AGENT WASHINGTON / Recovery One ▻ recoveryoneHistory: SO SHIFTY AND UNTRUSTWORTHY. He doesn't know why he even bothers half the time, except that it's better than running operations solo and at least Wash has answered some of his questions regarding Epsilon, the simulation armies, and Freelancer.
All of which infuriates him. He knows war means sacrifice, he knows that the Covenant pushed humanity to the brink, but there's no excuse for what Freelancer did if even a tenth of what Wash tells him is true. Which is why Chief trusts him not to shoot him in the back, yet.
Wash left out mentioning he was Article 12 (read: Section 8) though. Tex and Simmons have corroborated enough of the other details that he's pretty sure Wash is telling the truth, but still, this has instability written all over it.
(NOTE: Halo and Red vs Blue function as a one-way intertext. That is, Halo is canon to Red vs Blue, but RvB is not canon for Halo. So while Chief is in a sense their canonmate, they're not his. These characters are grouped in with Chief's canon cast mostly for simplicity's sake, and because no one but Halo nerds notice or care.)

✘ INTELLIGENCE PROGRAM EPSILON / Church ▻ revenantlyHistory: Despite mounting a rescue operation for the little AI, Chief has very little personal feeling for Epsilon. Rather, he thinks of him as Wash's problem, and will only involve himself insofar as giving Wash the assistance he needs.
Normally he might have a little more sympathy for a rampant AI, but Chief first encountered Epsilon in his Forerunner monitor form, when he blew Agent Washington into tiny, lasered smithereens. Yeah, no. Chief is Not Down With That Sort of Thing. He's not going so far as to regard the human Epsilon as a monster, but he's definitely not a human.

He's gradually getting to know Villetta personally as well, especially in the wake of Johnson's departure from the island. She placed the winning bid for him in the White Day auction, presumably to make him slave around and fix shelves all day. Shirtless.
