BRUTAL HONESTY MEME

Have you had one of those days lately when you just scroll down your friends list and look at all the wonderful people you know... and wanted to smack a fair number of them? I'm sure you all know that every once in while, it's good to share your true feelings. It can be stress relieving, an ( Read more... )

Dearest Nix,

*eye twitch*
Know when the time to be honest is? ALL OF THE TIME!

I had never seen that Meme before, but to me it implied that one has to be tagged with a silly little LiveJournal quiz to be chided into telling the truth. How heinous is that? It encourages deceit in relationships, deceit that leads one to find a bombshell on their friends page from someone they trusted and cared about, just because a stupid Meme inspired the drama.

That's quite sad, if that's still being sent around, and it's good to see you rightfully attack it.

It pissed me off so much. Right after my entry (note how no one commented on it.. i should post a hit counter though, to see how many check it out) everyone on my flist just deleted their entries about the meme except for one. Im glad some people're smart.

Dearest Nix,

*shakes head*
Blogging sure is a different animal than when I started it, that's for damn sure. What other changes have you noticed over the years?

Well for one thing, if you don't comment regularly on someone's blog, you get unfriended fast. I was guilty of that awhile but then I realized I don't care if no one reads it. I write because its my way of venting. Damnit. XD

Ive also noticed that people tend to steal my layout coding quite often. Not just S2 either. So now Ive conformed to what everyone else is doing so there is a less of a chance of that.

Dearest Nix,

Yaaaay, vent-writing! And it's rather lovely to read / witness as well, so I appreciate your taking the time to put it up online. As far as the comment-on-every-entry-or-else-you-don't-really-care fever that's festered, I'll be the dualistic person that I am and say I kind of see both sides. I tend to refresh my friends page constantly and read everything a friend writes, but I prefer to respond only when I have something relevant or amusing to say. At the same time, putting so much effort into keeping in touch and writing journal entries to share can get frustrating, seeing a page full of empty comment links. I don't see why someone would be unfriended because of it, though.

Ouch! Considering how much time you devote to website development, people stealing your efforts would be a great insult. I wondered periodically why everything you created came with stark warnings against copying, but now it all makes sense. It's not fair that you should have to worry about that to begin with, though.
