Genre: AU Resident Evil verse (loosely based)

A/N: For
lokitic and my post of fic request where I have completed 1 of 10 prompt requests I think? ^^;; sadness. Anyway, this is what I had so far.
First off, I have never played Resident Evil. I've only seen a handful of clips, such as gameplay and some scenes of Milla Jovovich kicking some ass in movies. I did do some research, but this will NOT be canon and I've made my own interpretations.

Jaejoong knows why Jung's here. His grandfather and his father were both part of the department so it's only natural that Yunho should also follow their footsteps, part of the proud tradition of becoming a law enforcer, a keeper of the peace, for justice and all that pomp and circumstance. Maybe it's something genetic, in their blood.
Jaejoong snorts.
On the flipside is himself, more of a rebel outcast all his life who was more interested in the outdoors than interacting with people. Knives, guns, improvised weapons are all things he's pretty familiar with, things he would do for kicks, the only thing he could control in his life. The woods are his escape, where he doesn't have to deal with the constant nagging, the bickering.
He figures there are worse things out there that he could be dealing with, and he knows his family is pretty well off. His four sisters are smart, pretty, and talented, but it's not enough for their dad, who had such high hopes for his only son.
He does manage to snag a scholarship at a local college, taking the minimal amount of courses while spending the majority of his time working part time at the hardware store or practicing his shooting while wandering the woods. He's known as that creepy kid who doesn't talk to anyone, who's supposedly killed someone or been to jail or any other countless stupid rumors that Jaejoong doesn't give a shit about.
~~~~~
"Remind me again WHY I have to work with Kim?" Yunho is usually a reasonable person, he feels, willing to take into consideration the other side, to try and at least understand. He's grown up with the motto of understanding the whole situation before jumping to any rash conclusion or decision.
But this, well, he's dealt with this before. He glares at his superior.
"Jung, I don't have time for this. You need to investigate the situation with Kim. He's our best sniper, all-around weapons specialist and his familiarity with this environment is unparalleled. You gonna tell me you know your way around the woods now?"
Yunho sighs. True, but. His superior manages to look a little apologetic.
"I know you two haven't had the best of history, but this is serious and you two are the top now. We need to find out what happened to the team. Shim will be your main reconnaissance as pointman; he'll be on at all times if you need his support. Kim Junsu will be backup man and Park will be rear security. Got that, mission leader?"
Yunho grabs the file, and nods. He might as well review everything.
It's 11AM and he's counting down the minutes for his lunch break. The file is confusing, pieces are missing, and the pictures remind him of a serial murder case he read about recently. There's something not quite right about the bodies and Yunho shivers.
"Can't handle a little blood?" a husky low voice whispers in his ear and Yunho fights not to fall out of his chair. He turns around to see Jaejoong, who chuckles at him. "Someone's jumpy today."
Yunho scowls, not wanting to admit how startled he was.
"You read the file?" he says instead, voice curt and unamused. He expects Jaejoong to make some other snipe or joke, but he's surprised to see Jaejoong's expression harden.
"Yeah. Two separate cases of mutilated bodies, showing haphazard gashes and tears into the flesh. Roughness of cuts and shapes of incisions suggest damage was done by hands or possibly teeth. Then there's that one body, with scarring and healing injuries but whose main cause of death seems to be from gunshots in the chest area."
The pictures are grisly, bodies almost unrecognizable and faces, eyes missing, lips gone, gashes across the skin. It's like some animal has torn into them, savage and unrelenting, not something Yunho can imagine an actual human being doing.
A knock at the door catches his attention and he looks up to see Changmin and Junsu.
"Creepy stuff. Definitely not something I want to see everyday." Junsu looks a little queasy as he notices the photos scattered on Yunho's desk.
"It'll provide us good training. Not really what I was expecting for my second mission as part of the team, but," Changmin shrugs, seemingly unaffected by the violent images. Yunho wonders if it's a facade; Shim's a little mysterious like Jaejoong.
"Is Yooch-oh great, you're here." Jaejoong nods to Yoochun who's just stepped in the room.
Yunho clears his throat. Mission accepted. Plan development, phase one.
CHAPTER TWO
They're extremely unprepared, Yunho curses to himself. It's like some horror movie gone terribly wrong and he stares at the carcasses of those beast-like dogs, savage and rabid except much, much worse and he's thankful that his team has managed to sustain minimal injuries. Yoochun checked for any bites, which luckily, no one seemed to have suffered from.
"I wasn't expecting a pack of dogs to be the culprit here, though there's something altered about them. It's almost as if... they've been genetically mutated somehow," Changmin says outloud, squatting to look at one of the bodies. "I'm not as familiar with this breed, but the behavior seems to deviate from any kind of self-protecting instincts an animal usually has."
"What, they're some kind of super dog? I thought you were supposed to have all the information, determine who are enemy was beforehand." Junsu is a little bitter; he twisted his ankle (though minor by Yoochun's assessment) trying to avoid a dog that leaped right at him.
"Kim, we're dealing with an enemy we have very little information on. We can only be cautious and do our best." Yunho looks a little bit sternly at him but softens his expression at Junsu, who's always been like a younger brother to him. "It shouldn't take long to heal, yeah?" Yunho pats his shoulder and Junsu gives him a weak smile.
"Though if Shim is right, then we might be dealing with something much bigger than some sick serial killer. Who would have the money and resources to even do genetic mutations?" Jaejoong comments, idly making nick marks on a piece of wood with his knife.
The words hit Yunho hard and he doesn't like the sound of this. He's not one to immediately jump to government conspiracies and he's the type to believe in tradition and establishment, but he can't help the nagging feeling that there's something not quite right about this whole picture.
"I talked to headquarters and seems like they've gotten some additional details." Yoochun steps out from the jeep, tapping his carton for a cigarette. "They say the attacks radiate out from an epicenter, more northwest of here, in the mountains."
Yunho nods.
"Then we'll head there next after a few days. Let's take some samples back to the lab for analysis."
They pile into the jeep, blood and body samples in tow, and Yoochun starts to drive. Changmin is bickering with Junsu on some point and Jaejoong is oddly silent.
There's a sense of foreboding that Yunho isn't liking.
"Hey guys?" Jaejoong suddenly says. "I think I hear something."
It's the only warning they have when their jeep is suddenly flung into the swamp and they find themselves scrabbling to unfasten, to swim, desperate to reach surface. Yunho bobs first, where he frantically looks around to see Yoochun, Changmin, and Junsu. He's not sure if there are enemies still lurking and he tries to see from the tall grass.
There's no sign of Jaejoong.
"Swim underwater as much as you can, try to dump everything except basic weapons. We don't know who's out there. I'll meet you by the west side. I'll find Jaejoong."
They look a bit shaken and Junsu's giving him that stubborn look of not wanting to leave.
"Go! We need someone alive to tell them what's going on." Yunho commands and they start to go underwater, swim, although reluctantly.
Yunho watches for a few beats before looking around again, hoping Jaejoong has bobbed up elsewhere. There's nothing though and he takes a big gulp of air to plunge deep into the murky water.
Sunlight passes through somewhat and luckily, the area they're in doesn't seem too deep. He looks around before he finally sees the jeep.
He sees Jaejoong floating listlessly, his pants leg stuck to something.
Bobbing up for air again, Yunho remembers his knife and dives deep. He reaches Jaejoong, hurriedly cutting away at the cloth in desperation. His fingers are numb, stiff and everything seems to be in slow motion.
Finally, finally the material gives and he pulls Jaejoong up to surface.
He looks around again, tries to listen for any enemies before he swims, slowly towards the west side. It's tiring, his muscles are already fatigued from earlier that day and Jaejoong isn't light. He starts to strip non-essentials, trying to make him lighter.
Yunho reaches the embankment, but there's nobody there. Fearing the worst, he slowly starts to drag Jaejoong's body on the sand, towards the bushes.
He's startled when Changmin and Yoochun suddenly appear next to him and they help to lift Jaejoong up, haul him towards the makeshift shelter Junsu's made. They all look grim as Yoochun starts to initiate CPR.
The choked, hacking noises are the best thing Yunho has heard all day and he can't help grabbing Jaejoong's hand and squeezing it tightly. The color on Jaejoong's face looks much better and they all look relieved.
Yunho doesn't know what to do. He figures they're five miles out, which isn't too bad, but not great either. He finds himself shivering slightly and wondering if they should set up camp for a bit or try and move to somewhere safer.
"There's... there's a cabin about two miles south of here." Jaejoong's voice is weak and Yunho purses his lips.
He nods. It's the best thing they can do for now.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Oddly, there's no attacks, nothing in fact, as they head towards the cabin. Changmin gets to work on starting a fire and there are even blankets and pillows. There's also some old cans of food and a wood stove, but Yunho figures they'll only be here for one night.
He starts to strip, motioning the others to do the same to not catch cold. It feels awkward, but there's nothing they can really do and they wrap themselves in blankets, close by the fire. Yunho takes this time to make an inventory of what they have.
"Okay. We have some basic arms, some knives, compass, some rations, and it seems like Yoochun's radio managed to survive the water somewhat, though we'll see if it picks up any signal. We'll have to stick close and get back to headquarters as soon as we can."
"I don't like it here." Yoochun mumbles. "It freaks me out." He tucks his knees under his chin and hugs himself.
CHAPTER THREE
Jaejoong is up first, realizing with horror that Yunho has latched on steadily to his arm for warmth. He inwardly groans before carefully extracting his limb and breathing out a sigh of relief as Yunho keeps on sleeping.
