If you cast your mind so far back that I can't be bothered searching for the LJ post in question, back in Hayes I put in laminate flooring in our small, square dining room. It took me a great deal of time: well in excess of a weekend if I recall correctly. Well we needed flooring in our significantly larger, u-shaped loung/dining room, and what with littl'un and everything, I thought "sod that for a game of soldiers" and got some men in to install it for me. They turned up at 10, removed the carpet, shuffled furniture around, installed the flooring and were gone by 2. Amazing how fast you can be when

b) you've got one chap measuring, one cutting and one installing.
