So I haven't talked to this kid in forever ... and I'm quickly reminded of why:
[him]: so where do you work
xcosmopoliticsx: kaman aerospace corporation
xcosmopoliticsx: the orlando site (where i work) develops and manufactures bomb fuzes for the government, their subcontractors, and foreign allies
[him]: I can't say I support that but I am definitely happy you're doing well
xcosmopoliticsx: right now I'm just executive secretary, but I'm learning so much about the product and the marketing aspects, which is where I hope to move into.
xcosmopoliticsx: I'm going to school for international marketing, which I think is going to be really good.
xcosmopoliticsx: And I understand not supporting it ... my boyfriend's the same way. Everyone's entitled to his own.
[him]: I personally believe there is a diplomatic solution to any problem....it's just unfortunate that it takes a lot more work
[him]: otherwise we would do it more often
xcosmopoliticsx: Agreed.
xcosmopoliticsx: See, when you're selling the product, or learning about its development, you don't really take into account what you're doing it for. It's when the engineers talk about how they're going to improve a fuze to more effectively penetrate an armored car that I get kind of weird.
xcosmopoliticsx: ...when it becomes real what the product is going into.
xcosmopoliticsx: Don't get me wrong. I love what I do. I love that my company is such a huge part of my country's government. And I'm not, by any means, opposed to war. It was just hard to swallow at first.
xcosmopoliticsx: It's easier when you just look at the product as an ignition, and focus on how it's going to ignite the rest of the missile or bomb ... I don't really like to focus on what that missile or bomb will do
xcosmopoliticsx: Haha, God that sounds ignorant.
[him]: not it just sounds shallow
xcosmopoliticsx: Yeah, that too.
[him]: it's not ignorant if you know your product will kill innocent civiilians
xcosmopoliticsx: Yeah ... just shallow, I guess.
xcosmopoliticsx: But that's part of war.
xcosmopoliticsx: And, like you said, unfortunately everything isn't solved with simple diplomacy.
[him]: complacency will be the end of this empire
xcosmopoliticsx: I'm not being complacent.
[him]: the "can't make an omlette without breaking eggs" approach is very complacent
xcosmopoliticsx: I'm just saying that war is what delivers results. That's been proven. As much as it sucks, it's true.
xcosmopoliticsx: And maybe that is complacent.
[him]: no, that definitely is
xcosmopoliticsx: Perhaps you're right about that.
[him]: I'm usually right
xcosmopoliticsx: Haha, not gonna touch that one.
[him]: don't have to
[him]: Im not looking for reinforcement
xcosmopoliticsx: But war is what allowed America to be "free"
[him]: ha
[him]: free
[him]: that's funny
[him]: we're the land of the most-free
xcosmopoliticsx: You're allowed to practice your religion thanks to war.
[him]: that just means we're more free than anybody else
xcosmopoliticsx: Well then, if that's how you feel, so be it. But war is the reason for that.
xcosmopoliticsx: I'd rather be the most free than not free at all.
xcosmopoliticsx: All I'm saying is that I support the idea of war ... not pointless and empty war, but productive war.
xcosmopoliticsx: And there is such a thing.
xcosmopoliticsx: Is what's going on right now "productive"? I'm not one to say. But there have been wars - among more than Americans - that have delivered the sought-after results. And that's what I support.
[him] signed off at 4:33:40 PM.
Haha, no rebuttle? Arrogant sonuva...
