not much has changed or happened since my last journal post... I'm still working the pizza joint, though this past weekend was "Fiesta" in SB; a celebration of santa barbara's spanish history... aka, a mass tourist grab. there was a parade on friday. I didn't see it. I was getting ready for work, because I'd been called in early. that happened all weekend. friday through sunday, not a day worked less than 12 hours. someone thought it was a good idea to fire 2 people the weekend before. a third guy got taken to jail. welcome to the homeland security bill: he had a record of gang involvement, and was pulled in along with I don't know how many others, in an attempt to keep the chances of gang violence to a minimum over fiesta. (didn't work, someone got into a nightclub with a gun, and shot the place up a bit... I think a couple people got killed. the nightclub was SUPER busy the next day. guess people figured "hey, it's safer now, right? who'd try and do it again in the same place?" )
anyway, so yeah. working the pizza joint. I also got a key and a raise a couple weeks ago. I'm second in seniority behind the assistant manager (he actually does work, the manager is a glorified security guard, and the owner spends as little time as possible in his shop.) I was working on sunday when Micheal Jordan walked by outside with the wife and kids. he didn't come in. I didn't cry about it.
I got a new tire for my bike, too... it's supposed to increase rolling efficiency. I think it works. when I'm listening to good, upbeat music on the ride home after a shift, I've cut 3 minutes off my best time. (from 41 minutes and change, to just over 39 minutes. it's a little more than 17 kilometers, or 11 miles-ish.) I'm happy about that improvement.
elsewise, there's not much going on. My computer arrived a few weeks ago from my family, (thanks again, mom and dad) I finally managed to get it connected to my apartment's internet. something about damaged winsocks keeping me offline. I'm also connected to the TV, so my screen is a glorious 45 inches at a not so glorious 600X800 resolution. italics are almost impossible to read. it's better than nothing, and watching movies from my computer is pretty good.
welcome to the minutia of my life.
