I've decided that for me, the political climate around the world and specifically USA is NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE and that by not making this abundantly clear to everyone that I know beyond a completely superficial degree is effectively complicit support.
It stops now.
I don't know all the facts about Bush's recent economic recovery thingie but his general political stance of deregulation and destruction of social assets and his excessive tax cuts which help the wealthy the most and the poor the least is NOT a step forward. We cannot preach democracy and liberty and impose ourselves on other countries if we cannot look after our own with dignity and mutual respect. I honestly believe Australia's change of government will undo some of the damage done to social equality and strength and hopefully build ties between communities. At the very least I believe these should be done anyway and were neglected by the previous government.
I think that Australians, Americans, hell, people of planet Earth, all must take responsibility for what will happen to our world.
I implore YOU to shake people out of their apathy and cynicism and DO something, even if it is to remind others of a message similar to this. I doubt you'll be shrugging as you starve to death on the street, incarcerated indefinately without trial, slaughter others in support of the almighty dollar etc. The list doesn't end.
