I read Heart-Shaped Box (by Joe Hill) today. It's been a long time since I've read an entire novel in one day. It's a really good read. You can totally tell he's Stephen and Tabitha King's son. He writes like his dad and mom combined, with the perfectly described environments and well thought out characters his mother puts onto paper, and the oft-times over the top, almost TOO supernatural situations and circumstances of Stephen's stories.
But yeah. It was a bit predictable at times, but it was a damn fine ghost story and I can't wait to see what he comes out with next. Oh, and it has one of the funniest pop culture references I've seen in a book recently, where the main character is in a hotel room watching My Chemical Romance perform on Conan O'Brien. It was great.
And now that I've read that, I can get back to finally finishing the first four books in The Dresden Files, and I also need to finish About A Boy sometime too.
The new White Stripes song (Icky Thump) is phenomenal, and I hear the album is as well. I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but the single is possibly my favourite song they've ever recorded.
I feel in the mood for some Tom Waits.
'Night.
