Actually from what I understand, the idea is to promote a more active and healthy lifestyle, and McDonald's is trying to appeal to the more health conscious people who stop coming because they're on diets. Hence they add the Fruit and Walnut Salad (Excuse me sounding like a spokesman for McDonald's) which according to the nifty little card that comes with your fork provides more than the recommended amount of fruit you should eat in a day...and also they have the fruit and yogurt parfait (lowfat yogurt) and the Premium Salads...and kids can have apple dippers in their happy meals instead of fries, they can have milk instead of fruit punch, stuff like that. I think it was last year we started the "Adult" happy meal, in which you can get a bottled water/drink and a premium salad and we stick it in this weird looking golden arch happy meal box and you get a free stepometer that counts how many steps you take, but it's kinda junk because I could just be standing there and it would keep counting. We had to wear it during the promotion, and we had to wear bright Green shirts to promote the fruit salad.
