A Tutorial was requested by
hide_r for this icon:
I use Photoshop but you should be able to translate!
Now it wont be exact (its my first time) but here is the tutorial:
-Start out with your picture I used a screencap by
nightfall_icons from the tv show Grey's Anatomy (a great show by the way)
-Crop it down to 100x100. Sharpen and smoothe to your tastes. If you have problems with the sharpen tool try fading the sharpening. You can do this by going to EDIT-->Fade Sharpen
-Next duplicate your Base and make it a soft light layer. Then duplicate your base again and make it a screen layer and take that layer to the very top of all your layers. So the order should be from bottom to top: base-softlight-screen. (You can always play around with these layers depending on your icon, you can turn down your opacity on either the soft light layer or the screen layer depending on if your icon is kind of dark or too light. I had my soft light layer on 91% and my Screen layer on 100%)
It should look something like this:
-Next your going to add this grandient:
And set it to Overlay
Im so sorry I have no idea where It came from but I probably have the name in my resources!
Here is what your icon should look like now:
-Its a little washed out so duplicate your base make it a soft light layer and bring it on top of the grandient layer. I made the opacity of this soft light layer 74%.
Here is my icon now:
-Were almost done! Now were gonna add that cool texture I have in my icon! Start out by making a white box in your icon (somewhere where it fits well with the icon). Now I erased part of the bottom of my white box to look like it ended at the bottom of the car window but you dont have to do this if you dont want to.
It looks like this:
-Now go get a texture that fits with the colors of your icon. Here is my texture, it was way larger so I cropped it to a 100x100 icon-sized block:
I got my texture from Carton Textures (check my resources in my info for the link-They have Great textures!) and put it in the middle of your white block.
Here is my icon now:
-Now for the last part Text I used butterbrotpaiper and I have no idea where I got it, im gonna go check my resources and see if I can figure out where I got it. But I color-dropped a color from my icon. ( You can do this by opening up the color chooser screen and just moving your cursor over to your icon)And your done!
-This is what the final product should look like:
-I hope my tutorial wasnt too confusing and if you have any questions please ask! I hope I did okay for my first time!
-Remember this is for guidance only so please dont copy my icon! Thanks!
