I hope everyone else had a Merry Christmas. I know I did. My Aunt Joy wanted to host Christmas Dinner up in Winchester, and do a vaguely traditional Scottish dinner. However, since we had already planned on the traditional turkey dinner, we did that Christmas Eve. And Owen and Kim got my Mom a special turkey roaster, which was a huge help, since it freed up the actual oven for all the other stuff.

Christmas day proper, we all went up to Winchester, got there a little early, while dinner was being finished. I saw a clever idea, or using interfacing, or thin quilting material, and draping it over the mantle for a winter village effect. Probably best that it wasn't actually over a real fire though. Fortunately, we didn't get any of the Christmas freezing rain that was called for, so it was safe.

Owen and Kim went back yesterday, fortunately, because they brought down their dog Emily, they drove, so none of the heightened security at the airports affected them. We'll see what it does when everyone goes to the Dominincan Republic next week, though.

On the subject of Christmas, one of the presents I got was a bunch of paperbacks of The Dresden Files. So that I can have some of my own, and in an easier format than the big hardbacks of what I do have. I'm not a huge fan of the cover art, but even more than that, something seems wrong about saying "As seen on the Sci-Fi channel," when the books are nothing like what they had on the Sci-Fi channel.

Could be worse though. Could be the Snuggie Sutra. Which is still probably the best use for those things yet.

And, while watching some football game last night, I saw that they are airing PSAs nominally aimed at coaches and football players of the Dangers of Head Concussionssss... I hope they're trying to cleverly alert the viewing public of them, rather than actually aiming these at the players themselves, because there's got to be a better way to get the message out to the teams and coaches.

And finally, is there any interest in watching the Sherlock Holmes movie? I hear mixed reviews about it, but I'm still interested in seeing it. And obviously seeing it on opening day didn't happen.
