It's true though, why should people try and milk attention if they had no idea who they were?

sometimes its good to show a little compassion, even if you do not know who needs it. You show compassion yourself through those Katrina animals relief thing. you don't personally take care of them, or own them, but you are showing compassion so they can be lent a helping hand.

I dunno, I just think it's wrong to get attention from other peoples pain. Not that I'm saying all of you are trying to get attention. Just some people use it like that.
