I had my 2nd interview/conducting audition for EPHS this evening. I'm not so sure about it. I came in completely confident, and left a bit defeated. I'm in the final two, so I know they see something in me, but I didn't have a strong hold on the group for more than 50% of the time. They followed me but not with everything I was going for. I forgot how difficult it is to command a band, especially when they are sightreading. I should hear back before mid week next week. eep.
I received a call for another interview this afternoon. This time at a multidistrict Art and Science school. I'll be interviewing there on Thursday afternoon. This school goes year round, and they are actively working to reverse the strong discrimination that is prevalent in our society... I'm very excited about their mission, and relatively excited about the job (it's orchestra not band... I can do it, but I'll be on a learning curve). They apparently liked my answers to their questions on working with diversity in the classroom on the application.
In other news, today was my witchycuntassbitchfuck boss's last day at work. It's wonderful. Surprisingly I didn't even have to say good bye as she was in a meeting when I left work. *shrug*. Hopefully this will begin a new era in our department without micromanagement and condescension... we'll just have to wait to see about that.
The heat has finally broken in Minneapolis. It's still humid as all hell, but with a temp of 75, it doesn't matter so much. I'm looking forward to tomorrow with a high of 80 (a full 20+ degrees cooler than Monday -- which was the hottest day in the Twin Cities in 11 years).
I'm really diggin' Thom Yorke's new CD. I'm surprised that it sounds so much like Radiohead, I was hoping for a bit of change, but since radiohead is solid gold it doesn't matter much to me. Also enjoying Tapes n' Tapes, and (strangely enough) Jem (not of Jem and the Holograms).
Off to watch a little Rockstar Supernova.
