Triumphant comeback, eh? So where you been, Wade? Where's all the LJ action you promised us?
It's in the 25 pints of blackberry jam, that's where. Featuring blackberry-lime jam and blackberry-rhubarb jam.
I didn't do as much canning this year as I had hoped. I completely missed blueberries and raspberries, my strawberry showing is paltry, peaches are on their way out, and I'm not even touching the tomatoes and such this year. However, it's pear season here in the Rogue River Valley (you know you live in a small area when the pear harvest makes the evening news--for a week straight) and next weekend is dedicated solely to the tasty little devils. Then, come the frost, I've been informed that I'm making elderberry jelly. So watch for that. I'm even thinking of making elderberry wine.
That's right, the Mormon is contributing to the delinquency of anybody brave enough to try it. I'm thinking of calling it Wade's Mormon Moonshine. The only thing I don't know is...how to make wine. But it's the new hip thing to do, so I'm sure there are classes and internet instructions galore.
So it's back to washing up my happy, full little jars and cleaning up my mess. Bah. I hate the dirty work.
