. . . is a day for homework! Especially when you've spent the whole weekend proper either working or celebrating your birthday.
I spent much of today trying to keep a good balance in my reading-Edgar-Allan-Poe-to-eating-birthday-cake ratio. (I like Poe, but are there really people in my class who are reading a dozen Poe stories and poems without eating three pieces of homemade chocolate cake? If so, my heart goes out to them.)
I think it is worth noting that my "British Literature 1860 to 1910" class is spending two and a half weeks on Poe, who (A) was American, and (B) died in 1849. The professor is emphasizing how much Poe influenced the other people we'll be reading, but so far we haven't hit them yet. Of course, we spent the first week and a half on Keats, who died* in 1827.
*Except for the part where he's secretly still out there being elfy and poetic and hawt. I'm onto you, Keats!
